All who wander are not lost.

by Brenna on June 29, 2009

wandereropt2 225x300 All who wander are not lost. Some friends always had that message on their answering machine.  I find that to be comforting somehow.

Wandering is good for the soul, and helps us appreciate how random life really is.  This figure is made of keys -

and is mounted on a map.  It says to me that we really do carry with us all that we need to know.

Dot to Dot

by Brenna on June 29, 2009

dottodotopt2a1 186x300 Dot to DotMore needle felting — this time right onto cotton fabric!  Dot to dot is about communication -

finding just the right place to be in.  Finding your spot.  This figure is playing with a different

perspective — looking at things in a different way.

Deeply Felt

by Brenna on June 29, 2009

I have fallen in love with needle felting! Using strands and wisps

of wool roving and the meditative and repetitious pokes of a barbed needle –

a design comes into being!  This piece was made using both wet and dry felting.

The body is made from a recycled wool sweater that was “fulled” by wet method,

which requires heat, soap and agitation.  The design was created by needle felting.

Joseph Bueys described felt as giving warmth and comfort, both physically and spiritually.

Rhythm of Three Strands…

by Brenna on May 22, 2009

Three StrandsThe rhythm of three strands — the meditative process of braiding. I remember when my daughter was small, and her long golden brown hair would get in her way, I would braid it. Like in this piece, I love the way different colors lay side by side. the way the strands unite to form something different.
